The American swimming star Katie Ledecky became world champion in the 1500 meters free style for her sixth time in her career, in a race played on Tuesday (29) in Singapore, at the World Water Sports Championship.

Ledecky finished the final with a time of 15: 26.44, establishing the fifth best mark in history, after swimming below the world record for two thirds of the race.

Silver got the Italian Simona Quadarella, world champion last year, in Doha, taking advantage of the absence of Ledecky, with the time of 15: 31.79, Europe’s new record.

Keeping the rhythm of the Americana for much of the race, Australian Lani Pallister ended up having to be content with the bronze, with a time of 15: 41.18.

This was the 28 -year -old American medal in world championships, 22 of them gold, with only four titles of the absolute record of his compatriot Michael Phelps.

“I love this test. It’s the distance where I got my first world record in 2013,” said Ledecky, who also has nine Olympic titles.

It is the second medal for Ledecky in this championship, after having to settle for the bronze in the 400 m free last Sunday, defeated by Canadian Summer McIntosh, another of the great stars of the pool present in Singapore.
