Three days ago from the start of charging the tariff imposed on Brazil by the Government of Donald Trump, there are no open signs for negotiation with the Brazilian government, not even for the extension of the deadline – one of the exporters’ appeals.
Government members try to intermediate a conversation between Trump and President Lula (PT), but have not yet been returned from the US government. For now, the climate in the Planalto Palace is of pessimism regarding the possibility of dialogue between the two presidents. Chancellor Mauro Vieira, who was at an event in the United States, will return to Brazil without being received in Washington.
Lula would be willing to speak directly to Trump. However, there is a fear that Trump destroys Lula during the conversation in late February.

The bet of the interlocutors is that the White House should only open a negotiation after day 1. August, after the tariffs come into force, which would increase the bargaining power of Americans. The Brazilian government tries to negotiate at least the removal of the taxation of orange, coffee and meat ,.
The negotiation attempts taken by Vice President Alckmin also bump into resistance, as the vice president talks to other interlocutors, but also cannot reach President Donald Trump.

It can come into force and then negotiate. But it is getting clearer our point of view,” he said.
According to the Minister of the Secretariat of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, after attending the opening of a meeting of the Council for Economic and Social Development, the Counsel, with representatives of the European Union,
“President Trump has said he doesn’t want to talk now. A conversation between two heads of state demands a whole preparation, it is not such a simple thing. But it is important to say that President Lula was never unwell to talk,” he said.
