Papa Leo XIV asks for digital influencers end of web polarization

Lion XIV met with digital missionaries and Catholic influencers, this Tuesday (29/7), in the Basilica of St. Peter, no. Polarization on social networks, artificial intelligence and the future of the internet were the themes of homily.

During the event, the religious asked the influencers “be agents capable of breaking the logic of polarization.” The pontiff also directed digital missionaries to use the internet to build “love networks.”

Among Brazilians invited to attend the meeting, is the influencer Raíssa Chadud, which accumulates more than 300,000 followers on social networks. She was chosen to read the prayers, representing Brazil and the Portuguese language. On her social networks, the young woman described the sensation as “wonderful.”

According to the goal of the Catholic Church is to renew the commitment to feed social networks and digital environments with Christian hope. The meeting brought together at least 1,000 digital influencers from 70 different countries.
