SBT will try to bring back to its programming the Copa Libertadores de America from 2027. The Abravanel family station warned Conmebol that it will make a proposal for the tournament, which was shown there between 2020 and 2022.
Globo, which owns the rights on open TV since 2023, will also make a proposal to renew the main football tournament on the continent. Record is still studying if it will enter the conversations, which will be conducted throughout this semester by the agency FC Diez Media.
In addition to trying to bring back to Libertadores, SBT intends, at least, to renew the rights of the South American Cup. The tournament is usually the largest audience of the station outside of Sundays, especially when displaying games of major clubs, such as Corinthians and Vasco.
This year, SBT got a good advertising with sales of commercial quotas with the Conmebol tournament. The main reason was the arrival of Tiago Leifert as narrator.
Even with criticism of the public for the most talked about to narrate the matches, Leifert pleases the company. His name is also very well accepted by the advertising market.
SBT has football contracts until 2027, when the current bond of the UEFA Champions League ends, which displays in agreement with Warner. The intention of the broadcaster is to expand the space for the most popular sport in the country in the program, but the lack of events available.
The company even negotiated the broadcast of the Brazilian Championship from 2025, but lost the dispute to Record. Meanwhile, negotiations for the 2027 and 2030 cycle of Libertadores and the South American Cup start in the last quarter. The tendency is for the result to leave in the first months of 2026.
