Former basketball player Igor Eduardo Pereira Cabral, 29, was arrested last Saturday (26/7) in Natal (RN), after brutally beating his girlfriend with more than 60 punches inside an elevator. The case was recorded by security cameras of a condominium on Ponta Negra beach. The attack caused multiple fractures on the 35 -year -old victim.
The attempted femicide took place around 4 pm (Brasilia), and the video shows the moment the couple argues in the elevator before Igor sets over the victim with extreme brutality. The sequence of blows was only interrupted when the elevator reached the ground floor and residents, alerted by the security guard who accompanied the cameras, managed to contain the aggressor until the arrival of the Military Police. Igor was arrested in the act and was prison converted into preventive after custody hearing.

Admitted to Walfredo Gurgel Hospital, the woman suffered several fractures on the face and jaw and will undergo surgery this week. The case caused a strong repercussion on social networks and brought to light an aggressive profile of Igor, who is now investigated for attempted femicide.
In testimony, he claimed to have suffered a “claustrophobic outbreak” motivated by jealousy, rejected by the authorities. According to police, the explosive behavior of the former athlete is not isolated: a new video, recorded during a party in Caicó, shows Igor exchanging physical aggressions with another man, reinforcing the pattern of violence.
