Arrested since 2024 for collective rape, the Former Robinho player would be involved in conversations to launch a sports betting site Next to hacker Walter Delgatti Neto. The pair is serving time at Tremembé Penitentiary II, in the interior of São Paulo, and would be developing the project while still detained.
The proposal is that the betting platform will be launched after any regime progression. According to the “Metropolis” website, the idea was mentioned by Delgatti in a connection with his lawyer, Ariovaldo Moreira, and commented among the detainees. The hacker, known for leaked messages from Operation Lava Jato, would be exchanging information with Robinho to better understand the operation of the online bet market.
Sentenced in Italy to nine years in prison for participation in a collective rape in 2013, Robinho had the penalty recognized in Brazil by the Superior Court of Justice (STJ) and has been arrested since March 2024. On August 6, the STJ will judge an appeal presented by the defense of the former player, who asks for the reduction of the semi-sentence and the possibility of semi-open compliance.
Delgatti is in a penalty for invasion of the National Council of Justice (CNJ) system, a crime he committed between 2022 and 2023. He was convicted by the Supreme Court (STF) to eight years in prison. The case also involved federal deputy Carla Zambelli (PL-SP), currently on the run.
How Robinho was arrested
Robinho was arrested by the Federal Police on March 21, 2024, in his coverage in the Gonzaga neighborhood of Santos (SP), after the STJ decides that Brazil should comply with the Italian court’s request for the former athlete to serve his sentence in the country.
On January 21, 2022, Italy sentenced Robinho and his friend Ricardo Falco to nine years in prison for crime of collective sexual violence that occurred in 2013 in Milan (Italy) when the player was playing for Milan. The conviction took place in the third and last instance, which means that no further appeal in Italian courts.
According to investigations, the victim – an Albanian woman – was unconscious due to alcohol consumption and was raped by Robinho and five other men in a nightclub. All convicts claimed that the act was consensual, but the Italian court considered the blunt evidence against Brazilians.
Robinho’s situation in prison
Since his arrest, Robinho has been in Dr. José Augusto César Salgado, better known as Tremembé II – the so -called “Prison of the Famous”. On the spot also pity names such as Alexandre Nardoni, Cristian Cravinhos, Lindemberg Alves and Gil Rugai. Edinho, son of Pelé, was already detained in the unit.
Initially, Robinho was ten days in isolation, in an 8 m² cell, for adaptation and internal evaluations. Then it was transferred to a common cell of approximately 2×4 meters, which divides with another detainee.
According to lawyer José Eduardo Alckmin, who works in defense of former player, Robinho is “well, as far as possible”, and follows a regular prison routine. Alckmin pointed out, however, that he has not had direct contact with the client since his arrest – the information is passed through the player’s wife.
“Of course he would rather be loose and live his life.” But as far as possible, he’s fine, ”said Alckmin in an interview prior to the website” G1 “.
Can Robinho still leave prison?
Since April 2024, Robinho’s lawyers have tried to reduce the penalty imposed by the Italian court. They submitted embargoes of declaration, a type of appeal that seeks to clarify or correct points of the court decision – such as any omissions, obscurities or contradictions.
The appeal has been postponed twice – was initially on the special court agenda in March and then in May 2025. Now it will be on August 6. The decision may make room for review of the sentence or maintain the sentence determined by the Italian court.
Ricardo Falco also meets a sentence
Another convict in the same case, Ricardo Falco, has been arrested since June 13, 2024, in Guarulhos Penitentiary 1 (P1), in Greater São Paulo. Like Robinho, he received a sentence of nine years in prison and no longer has the possibility of appeal in the Italian court.
Robinho still plays?
Robinho had his retirement confirmed in an article on the website “UOL”, published in July 2022. In a Whatsapp message from Robinho for the site report, which was in Santos (SP) to find out how the player’s routine was going, he wrote: “Don’t play anymore, leave me alone.”
Robinho’s last club was Santos, in a passage that began on October 10, 2020 and ended six days later, in the face of pressure from fans, counselors and sponsors.
