In an exclusive interview with CNN BrazilBrian Ballard, a lawyer close to Donald Trump, recommended that Brazil pay attention to what the president of the United States is asking to negotiate the tariff.
“I would strongly recommend that people in Brazil pay close attention to what they are asking,” he said, stressing that negotiations with the EU (European Union) were also difficult, but there was an agreement.
Trump announced agreement with the EU on July 27. The understanding foresees a 15% overall fare and that will buy it $ 750 billion in energy and invest $ 600 billion more than the current value in military equipment, for example.
“It is necessary to give the president a lot of credit [Trump] And to your team for being able to solve it all. It was not only economic issues, there were also political issues, and they managed to solve them, ”he said.
“I hope this will be resolved in a way that is beneficial to the Brazilian people, but also allows the president [Trump] achieve what he wants and what he considers fair, ”he concluded.
The president of the United States announced the imposition of a 50% rate against all exports on July 9, citing the investigation against former President Jair Bolsonaro for alleged coup attempt. In addition, he stated that the commercial relationship between countries would be unfair.
