People reach deeper into their wallet in stores and restaurants. The Slovakian, who went to lunch in the center of the capital, was also confirmed. It was angry with the price for the daily menu, but especially the amount for water. She has posted her experience on the Facebook page Do not feed us with waste. “Pitcher of tap water for 9 €? Slovak gastronomy without shame…“It is said at the beginning of the post.
The woman described that she sat in a restaurant in the center of Bratislava, which is only a few tens of meters from the well -known statue of Čumil. “Nothing special – the tables that remember the Dzurinda government, polyester tablecloths and the menu, where even an ordinary chicken cut stands as a dinner in Paris. But well, I was hungry. Lunch menu for 14,90 € – fine, I take, we live only once, ” She started and added that the shock came when she asked for water from the waitress.
“And when I was decent to eat, with all the humility, she asked a glass of water, just ordinary tap water, the waitress looked at me as if I was just asking for a caviar for free. She said with a cool voice: ‘The water is for 2.90. ‘ Not mineral water. Not lemonade. No, nothing extra. Only water from their own tap, ” She shared with fans of the site.
In her words, it was not three euros, but a principle. “The point was that one should drink when he is thirsty. And that in a civilized country, you should not charge you for which you buy six bottles of mineral water with a returnable advance in the store, ” She wrote an indignant woman.
She then compared the situation from Bratislava to abroad. “In Ireland, they gave me water automatically. In Italy they don’t even ask, they will bring a decanter. In Germany, you say “Leitungswasser” and no one can even think of making science. And here with us? Here you almost attack your dignity, because you dare to be thirsty, ” added. In this context, she remembered a case that also appeared on the same page some time ago. Customers did not believe with their own eyes when they posted nine euros for a pitcher of tap water in the company in Slovenský Grob. You can find a photo account in the gallery.
“This is no longer gastronomy. This is a thief in gloves, ” he thinks. The European Union’s initiative was pleased to provide the restaurant, according to which the restaurant should provide free water from the tap or for a symbolic fee. “Finally, someone understands that a glass of water is not a luxury. It should be the basis. This initiative is not just about saving money. It’s also about saving the planet – less plastic bottles, less waste, more decency,” she said.
In her opinion, the Slovaks will immediately argue for service or hygiene regulations. “We will charge “Water Service” as if we were pouring champagne to the crystal. The head of the Association of Restaurants claims that some businesses give water, especially to the menu. But if you sit down in the center of Bratislava for lunch and ask you just clean water, you still risk looking at you like a jacket, “she said.
She added that she did not order water for three euros with respect to her wallet. “This story is not just about me. It’s about all of us. About that the water should not be goods like a handbag from Gucci. It should be the basic gesture of hospitality. And if the restaurant can’t even give the guest a glass of water, it may think if he still deserves to call himself a restaurant, ” ended her post.
