Several Arab countries joined on Tuesday to the call that Hamas disarms and stops controlling Gaza, in an attempt to end the devastating Israel War with the Islamist movement in that Palestinian territory. Seventeen countries, in addition to the European Union and the Arab League, supported the “New York Declaration”, agreed at a conference at the UN headquarters to revive the solution of two states for Israel and the Palestinians and end with a conflict of more than seven decades. Among the signatories are Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Canada, Catar, Egypt, Spain, France, Mexico and the United Kingdom. “In the context of finishing the war in Gaza, Hamas must end the control of Gaza and deliver weapons to the Palestinian authority, with international participation and support, in line with the objective of a sovereign and independent Palestinian state,” says the seven -page document.
