Professional environment is not always only collaboration and partnership. Sometimes, behind a friendly smile or an exaggerated compliment of a co -worker, it may be someone willing to go over anyone to climb on. And unfortunately, the favorite targets are often talented and confident colleagues.

Identifying toxic behaviors in the workplace can be the first step in protecting yourself and even avoiding unpleasant surprises in the future. If you have felt something strange from a colleague, it is worth keeping an eye on these warning signs:

1. He takes credit for his ideas

You share a suggestion at the informal meeting, and shortly thereafter, it appears presented as if it were his. This is one of someone’s most classic signs trying to grow at the expense of others.

2. Lives you disqualifying subtly

“I didn’t know you didn’t know you knew how to do that” or “wow, until it was good” they may seem harmless, but they carry a passive-aggressive tone that undermines your confidence in the face of others.

3. Avoid passing on important information

This co -worker knows that something has changed in a project or that there was a new guidance of the leadership, but does not share with you. This purposeful omission is used to leave you at a disadvantage.

4. Try to approach the bosses over you

Makes a point of appearing alone in deliveries, ignores the team in presentations and tries to create a direct relationship with the head – all to seem more essential than it really is.

5. Lives compared to you with others

It always points out how much another colleague is faster, more efficient or more “well -related”, trying to put you down, even if disguised as advice or feedback.

6. Acts different when they are alone and in group

In particular, it’s kind and even a partner. In public, ignores you or puts yourself above. This change in behavior reveals an attempt to build image at its expense.

Be aware of these signs can help you maintain your professional posture without falling into traps. Not everyone is playing clean – and knowing it puts you one step ahead.
