Late last night (30), the president of the National Congress, Senator Davi Alcolumbre (Union-AP), released a note about the political, diplomatic and commercial crisis between Brazil and the United States (US) stating that the Brazilian Parliament does not admit interference in the powers of the republic of the country.

Without directly citing the Supreme Court Minister (STF), Alexandre de Moraes, Alcolumbre said he trusts the strengthening of the judiciary.

“I reaffirm confidence in strengthening our institutions, including the judiciary, an essential element for the preservation of national sovereignty, which is non-negotiable. The National Congress does not admit interference in the performance of our powers,” Alcolumbre said in a statement, released to the press at 11:32 pm on Wednesday.

Lei Magnitsky

In the early afternoon of Wednesday, the US Foreign Asset Control Office (OFAC) in the United States (USA) applied a sanction against STF Minister Alexandre de Moraes.

The magnitsky law was called, used to punish alleged human rights violators abroad. The measure blocks goods and companies from the US sanction targets. If Moraes has companies or control, with 50% or more, in the US, they will be blocked.
