In the Algarve there is a beach where access is already an experience in itself. To get there, it is necessary to cross a wooden pedestrian bridge about 320 meters, considered one of the largest of its kind in Europe. Along the way, visitors are welcomed by the Ria Formosa scenario, with their typical lagoons, saline and birds, turning the simple crossing into a memorable moment.
According to the Beachcam Portal, which shows images of several Portuguese beaches in real time, on the other side is Quinta do Lago beach, also known as Gigi Beach.
The name is due to the historic restaurant that receives the bathers at the entrance of the Areal and which became a gastronomic reference, especially by the seafood. Founded by several public figures, this beach combines preserved nature and discretion, becoming a sought after refuge in summer. Television host Maria Cerqueira Gomes, as well as Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, are some of the guys who usually attend this beach in summer.
A sand between dunes and protected nature
The beach has a long sand and integrates the Ria Formosa Natural Park, one of the most important zones for biodiversity in Portugal. According to the same source, it is surrounded by clear dunes and sands, with usually calm sea and surveillance of salvator swimmers in the bathing season. Blue flag certification guarantees the environmental quality of the site, reinforcing its attraction for those who value clean and quiet spaces.
During the crossing by the bridge, it is possible to see various bird species and enjoy the sunset on the Ria, one of the most striking moments of the visit. This access helps to preserve the serene environment of the beach, even at the high time.
Between exclusivity and active leisure
According to the site, Quinta do Lago beach is inserted in the so -called “golden triangle” of the Algarve, along with Vale do Lobo and Vilamoura. The area is known for its international golf fields, luxury resorts and activities such as tennis, walks and water sports.
Those looking for even more privacy can walk a few minutes along the sand and find almost deserted areas. For meals, Gigi restaurant remains one of the best known references in the region, consolidating the connection between the sand and local cuisine.
An Algarve refuge with history
Quinta do Lago’s venture began to be developed in the 1970s and 1990s, with the objective of creating one of Europe’s main tourist destinations. Today, the beach and pinhal remain public access, allowing any visitor to enjoy the balance between quality tourism and natural preservation.
According to the same source, crossing the bridge in the late afternoon is one of the most appreciated experiences by those visiting this zone of the Algarve, allowing to observe the Ria and the Sea in a scenario of rare tranquility.
