Slovak firefighters continued on Wednesday in an intensive air extinguishment of a large forest fire, which in the west of Bulgaria threatens the area with an area of thousands of hectares. He informed the Slovak Fire and Rescue Corps (HaZZ) on Facebook on Facebook, writes TASR.
Wednesday was the third day of the local deployment of Slovak firefighters, while their operations took place on this day around the villages of Ploski and Liľanovo, in the field they described as demanding. Two Swedish aircraft were also involved in the interventions, thus strengthening the international efforts to locate and manage the fire.
Slovakia sent to Bulgaria to help with fire -fighting Black Hawk on Sunday, the Slovak Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok informed. Two pilots, two mechanics and two firefighters from the air extinguishing module flew to Bulgaria from Slovakia. They should stay there for about seven days. HaZZ President Adrián Mifkovič said in this context that the Bulgarian side is paid by the accommodation, meal and fuel costs.
In recent days, HaZZ reported on Facebook that crews from the Czech Republic and Hungary are also involved in the extinguishing. Later, helicopters from France and Romania were added and two aircraft from Sweden. HaZZ added that the services of the aircraft operator are co -financed by the European Union through the Resceu Transition 2025 grant.
