The Vice President of the Republic and Minister of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB), compared the attitude of President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva (PT) with former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL), saying that Lula was arrested for a year and, nevertheless, did not attack the autonomy of the judiciary.
“Lula got stuck a year and a half, it was not a day and a half. With a year and a half arrested, and never wanted to overthrow democracy or the judiciary,” said the vice president.
Lula was arrested on April 7, 2018, sentenced to 12 years and one month for passive corruption and money laundering in the Guarujá triplex process, as part of Operation Lava Jato.
