The Innovation Award – Mediterranean Diet is once again one of the highlights of the Mediterranean Diet Fair, which will be held from 4 to 7 September in Tavira. The award aims to recognize innovation in the agri -food sector represented in the event and results from a partnership between the CCDR Algarve, IP, the Mutual Agricultural Credit Box of the Algarvio Sotavento, the In Loco Association and the Municipality of Tavira.
The reward aims to distinguish the producers, projects and companies present at the fair, valuing their contribution to the sustainable development of the region, through innovative practices. CCDR Algarve points out that the initiative promotes the appreciation of products and knowledge related to the Mediterranean diet, considered by UNESCO as an immaterial cultural heritage of humanity, highlighting as an ancestral model that combines agriculture, fishing, gastronomy, sustainability and sharing.
Applications are already open and must be submitted by 18:00 of August 23, 2025, through. All producers or entities with confirmed presence at the fair can apply.
The evaluation of the applications will be made by a accredited jury, being complemented by a public vote, which will represent 30% of the final consideration. Evaluation criteria include the degree of innovation, economic viability, response to market needs, and environmental and social impact.
Monetary awards will be awarded to the top three classifieds: thousand euros for first place, five hundred euros for the second and two hundred and fifty euros for the third, as defined in.
The winners will be announced publicly on the last day of the fair, September 7, at 6:30 pm, on the stage of the Garden of Bandstand, at a ceremony preceded by a traveling show of the group “The Bombos do Imagem”.
