Corinthians denies any debt with striker Memphis Depay and ensures that the player’s contract is being fulfilled as agreed. The statement was made by the club’s interim president, Osmar Stabile, during an interview that marked the 60 days of his management at the head of the club, after the removal of Augusto Melo. The press conference was granted last Monday (28/07).
– Corinthians owes nothing to Memphis. It’s all in order. We pay salaries, image rights, awards. There is a contract and we will fulfill. He is doing his part and the club too, ”said the leader.
Stabile also rejected rumors about a possible termination or rediscussion of the bond with the Dutch. According to him, the matter is not being treated internally and neither party sought the club to renegotiate the terms of the agreement. The bond runs until July 31, 2026.
– There is no conversation in this regard. If different information leaked, it is untrue. Corinthians is open to talking to any player, as we did with Yuri (Alberto), but there was no signaling from Memphis or his staff so far – he added.
Despite the tranquility behind the scenes regarding the contract, the club acknowledges that it faces financial limitations and, therefore, has chosen to install late awards. Memphis, like the rest of the cast, was entitled to values for goals achieved, totaling R $ 9.4 million so far – a amount that can grow according to the performance by the end of August.
