The Argentine government officialized on Thursday (31) a decree that allows foreigners to obtain Argentine citizenship by conducting “relevant investments” in the country, without the need to prove minimum residence time. The information is from the Argentine portal Infobae.

The measure, signed by President Javier Milei, the Chief of Staff Guillermo Franco and the Minister of Economics Luis Caputo, was published in the Official Gazette and is part of the migratory reform that began in May this year.

According to Decree 524/2025, interested parties must submit their requests to the newly created investment citizenship programs agency, linked to the Ministry of Economy.

This agency will be responsible for assessing whether the investment meets the established criteria and ensuring that the request is not a risk to national security or the interests of the country.

The process provides that, after the positive evaluation of the agency, a detailed report will be sent to the National Migration Directorate, which will have up to 30 business days to decide on the granting or rejection of citizenship.

If the investment is not considered relevant or any security body manifests against it, the request will be denied.

The initiative is part of the Milei government strategy to attract foreign investment and foster job creation while reinforcing control and safety mechanisms in the granting of nationality.
