The Alagoas Civil Police, in an operation on Wednesday (30), disarticulated a criminal network with interstate performance specializing in fraud for diversion and resale of vehicles. During the action, 28 cars were recovered and three people were arrested.
The gang operated in the states of Alagoas, Pernambuco, Sergipe and Bahia and is pointed out as responsible for a scheme that involved the Use of counterfeit documents to remove seized cars for administrative infractions in courtyards of the State Traffic Department (Detran) and the Municipal Department of Transport and Traffic (DMTT), in Maceió.
Investigations indicate that the group monitored vehicles seized in these bodies and produced videos of cars to attract interested buyers.
Then the document forgery step began. The criminals elaborated fraudulent power of attorney on behalf of legitimate owners and presented this documentation to the authorities to get the release of cars.
With the vehicles in hand, the pack did the resale in a clandestine way, acting in both the local market and other northeastern states. Part of the cars was also sent for breakdown.
The investigation began after complaints from owners who did not find their vehicles in the courtyards of the organs. From the registered reports, the Civil Police began crossing data and identified the dynamics of the gang.
The evidence led to the opening of a Preliminary Information Verification (VPI), which supported the outbreak of the operation. During the police action, arrest warrants and search and seizure were served. Three people were arrested, two in Maceió and one in Marshal Deodoro. So far, 28 vehicles have been recovered and taken to the courtyard of the General Police Station.
The Civil Police estimates that more than 50 cars have been diverted. The investigations continue. The operation should follow in new phases, with the expectation of new arrests and more vehicles recovered.
