The moments that preceded the meeting between Yokohama Marinos and Liverpool (1-3), this Wednesday, in Japan, were marked by an emotional and chilling tribute to Diogo Jota, former Portuguese international, recently deceased by a tragic road accident in Spain, where he followed with his brother, André Silva, former Penafiel player.
Ian Rush, one of the greatest legends in Reds history, entered the Nissan Stadium lawn with a flower crown in his hands, while in the benches the atmosphere was illuminated by an impressive spectacle of lanterns.
The former Welsh advisor put the crown on the pitch, remaining a few moments silent before her, at a time loaded with emotion, both in the field and in the benches.
Soon after, players from both teams entered the field with the main spotlight of the stadium dismissed, continuing the tribute meaning to the memory of the former Portuguese footballer.

Both Jota and Silva sadly lost their lives earlier this month. 🙏
The stadium lights up to pay respect. ❤️
