The (Supreme Federal Court) said on Wednesday (30) that will not deviate from his role of fulfilling the laws and the Federal Constitution. The official note on behalf of the Court also points out that all decisions made by Minister Alexandre de Moraes, the target of sanctions by the government, were endorsed by other magistrates.
“The Federal Supreme Court will not deviate from its role of fulfilling the constitution and the laws of the country, which ensure all involved the due process and a fair trial,” says the text.
The Court also expresses, in the note, solidarity with the minister.
On Wednesday, the US announced financial sanctions to Moraes through the call. The legislation deals with serious violations of human rights.
The measure was published on an American Treasury website, which recorded the minister’s inclusion under an OFAC sanction, a foreign asset control firm, which belongs to the United States Treasury Department.
Through this decision, the Trump government determines the freezing of any good or Moraes assets and can also ban US financial entities from doing dollar operations with a sanctioned person. This includes the MasterCard and Visa credit card flags, for example.
Due to Trump’s decision, the Supreme Court commented on the ongoing trial on the 2022 coup plot to prevent the inauguration of the then president -elect Lula (PT).
“In the context of the investigation, serious evidence of the practice of these crimes were found, including a plan that provided for the murder of public authorities. All decisions made by the process rapporteur were confirmed by the competent collegiate,” says the STF.
