Several stories you read in France that say Lyon has paid for Botafogo titles are wrong. We make money from titles, sales of players and why we are good in business. Botafogo finances Europe, and not the other way around:
“We are an organization audited by companies of the largest caliber, we have done all this to enter the IPO, there is no debate. There is no financial problem. We are financing Europe. I want to separate Botafogo from the European part (Lyon), but this is the Eagle board,” he said.
Although the negotiation seems to be textor with himself, the investor sees the difference in guarantees. When he bought Lyon, he gave Botafogo actions to Ares and thus he would be acquiring them again.
With Textor, Botafogo went from supporting the protagonist of Brazilian football. After much suffering in 2023, the club managed to win the Libertadores and the Brazilian Championship the following year.
