The statement annoyed party leaders, especially as the PL seeks to consolidate a narrative to support Trump and retaliation against Moraes.

According to Valdemar, the decision to expel Rodrigues was made after strong pressure from the bench. “Our parliamentarians understand that attacking US President Donald Trump is unknowingly ignorance. Trump is the president of the strongest country in the world,” he said in a statement sent to G1.

The party leader added that “what we need is of diplomacy and dialogue, not cheap populism.”
