Another suspect is on the run
The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) detained a man in possession of 100 grenades in the district of Changara, province of Tete, downtown, who was carrying a passenger car, the authorities announced.
“We believe that these are detonation devices in mining, and are also devices that can be used for other illicit activities, which can endanger the normal order and public safety,” Feliciano da Câmara media, spokesman for the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Tete.
According to the same source, the 100 grenades, found on Thursday, with their detonators, were being transported in a passenger vehicle, which was destined for the city of Tete.
The accused, who was a collector of that informal transport vehicle, said he was unaware of the provenance of the mills, advancing that he thought it was a normal order.
According to the PRM regional spokesman, the driver of the vehicle was fled after being challenged by the police, and resulting in “diligence” for their capture, as well as to identify the owner of grenades.
