Asked about Michelle’s plans for 2026, Jair Bolsonaro said his wife evaluates a Senate plate by the Federal District

The former first lady (PL) transferred her voter title back to Brasilia. “The good daughter to the house makes it,” Michelle published on social networks on Wednesday (30). The former first lady is quoted to compete in the Senate by the Federal District. Until this Wednesday (30), Michelle had the electoral domicile recorded in Rio de Janeiro. Between 2023 and 2024, Michelle’s name was speculated to run for Senate by both the Federal District and Paraná. When Senator Sérgio Moro’s mandate (União Brasil-PR) was threatened by an action in the Electoral Justice, which could lead to the summons of a supplementary election, the name of the former president’s wife (PL) was quoted for the extra election.

In the 2022 general elections, the first lady voted in Ceilândia, in the Federal District. Michelle’s staff was questioned by Estadão, but did not clarify when she transferred the title to Rio. Michelle is president of PL Woman, a female wing of Bolsonaro’s party. Michelle’s name is also evaluated by research institutes for the presidential dispute. Atlasintel/Bloomberg poll released on Thursday, 31, points out that Michelle records 29.7% of voting intent on a scenario without Bolsonaro or (Republicans) in the dispute, being surpassed by the president, who records 48.5% of mentions. Other voting options add up to 20.5% in the scenario, while blank votes, nulls or abstentions, 1.6%.

Asked Michelle’s plans for 2026, Jair Bolsonaro said his wife evaluates a Senate plate for the Federal District, not to the Planalto. According to a survey by Paraná polls released on June 9, Michelle leads the Senate dispute in the federal capital. The former first lady has 42.8%of voting intentions, ahead of Governor Ibaneis Rocha (MDB), with 36.5%, and Leila Barros (PDT), Senator of the DF, with 29.7%. The Institute conducted 1,522 interviews between May 31 and June 4, 2025. The margin of error is 2.6 percentage points and the confidence index is 95%.
