Minister Alexandre de Moraes of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), called on Friday (1st) as “coward, treacherous and criminal” the international offensive promoted by allies of former President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) against the Brazilian judiciary.
In a speech in reopening the STF’s work, Moraes stated that the attacks configure “a true betrayal of the homeland” and seek to submit the court to pressure from a foreign state.
“We are verifying intentional and aware conduct of a criminal organization that, never seen in the country, tries to submit the functioning of the Supreme to the sieve of a foreign state,” Moraes said, in reference to the international articulation of pockets to press by amnesty to the accused of the January 8th coup attempt and now.

The minister cited 50% rates imposed by the Donald Trump government on Brazilian products as a concrete example of the performance of pockets to harm the country in the name of personal political interests.
According to him, there are plenty of evidence in investigations conducted by the Supreme Court and the Federal Police that demonstrate the attempt to obstruct Brazilian justice through “spurious and treacherous negotiations with foreign authorities.”
“They are illicit and immoral conduct, impregnated with the bitter taste of betrayal to the Brazilian people,” said Moraes. “They assume the authorship of intermediation with foreign government to impose economic measures against its own country. This is not patriotism. It is sabotage.”

Coup by other means
In the evaluation of the rapporteur of criminal actions on January 8, the pattern repeats itself: before the camps and invasions to the buildings of the three powers, now the attempt to destabilize the economy and the institutions with external help.
“The scammer modus operandi is the same. The attempt now is to create an economic and social crisis to make a new institutional rupture viable,” said the minister.
Moraes also accused the pocket group of resorting to blackmail and direct intimidation against court ministers, with threats to their families. He also said that there was explicit pressure on the presidents of the House and Senate for the opening of impeachment of STF ministers, aiming to end the criminal actions against the defendants of the coup plot.
