Columnist of “Estadão” and founder of “West” magazine had a career of 6 decades, including 15 years as director of “Veja” magazine
The columnist of STATE OF S. PAULO José Roberto Guzzo, 82, died on Saturday morning (2.ago.2025). The journalist, who was also one of the founders of the magazine Westsuffered a heart attack, as informed by the press vehicle itself.
Guzzo was known for having a career of over 6 decades in Brazilian journalism. Began his professional career as a reporter for the newspaper Last hour from São Paulo in 1961. Later, he joined the founding team of the magazine Look.
Subsequently, he worked as a correspondent in New York. Guzzo also covered the Vietnam War. In 1988, the journalist assumed the position of director general of the magazine Exam.
In October 2019, Guzzo left the magazine Look After a text in which he criticized the Supreme Court (STF) not to have been published in his biweekly column. Since 2021, it had a column in Estadão.
