The president is preparing for a national radio and television pronouncement, with the aim of responding to the sanctions imposed by the minister. Sanctions, which include the blockade of accounts and the prohibition of entry in the US, represent a critical point in relations between the two countries. Lula’s pronouncement is expected to take place between Sunday (3) or Tuesday (5), one day before the entry into force of new tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump. Although the exact content of the speech has not yet been finalized, Lula is expected to reiterate his position against US tariff policy, as he has done earlier, and express his support to Moraes.
In a gesture of solidarity and support, President Lula recently organized a dinner at the Dawn Palace with ministers of the Federal Supreme Court. The event aimed to demonstrate support to Moraes in the face of the sanctions imposed. In addition to the STF ministers, Jorge Messias, Union lawyer, and Ricardo Lewandovski, Minister of Justice, participated in the dinner.
