Pilot Peri Cunha, 37, died as a result of an accident at the Curvelo Circuit in Minas Gerais on Saturday (2). Paulista participated in the classification training of the Mottu Endurance category in the fourth stage of the Brazilian Motorcycle Championship.
The death was released by the Moto1000GP, which organizes the test and interrupted the weekend activities. According to the entity, the motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle in a curve, received care and was taken to the Immaculate Conception Hospital, but could not resist.
“The atypical incident occurred at 11:51, in curve 7. The pilot received immediate care from the medical team of Moto1000GP, present at the Crystal Circuit, and was sent to the Immaculate Conception Hospital, local reference unit. Despite all the efforts of the medical team, Peri could not resist, and the death was confirmed at 1:05 pm,” says Moto1000GP note.
“The organization of Moto1000GP, together with the Brazilian Confederation of Motorcycling and local authorities, is committed to understanding and clarifying what may have motivated the fall,” the text adds. “At this moment of immense pain, our thoughts and prayers are focused on family, friends and motorbell community, which loses one of their great loves with the two wheels.”
Born in Piracicaba, Peri Cunha had a solid trajectory in motorcycling. It is among its achievements to win the class 1000 Light title of the Superbike Brazil Championship of 2023.
