The Legal Group Prerogatives, aligned with the Lula government, published on Friday (1st) note of repudiation to the Minister of (Supreme Court), based on
“This is an unacceptable measure, which constitutes improper foreign interference in the internal affairs of Brazil and violates national sovereignty.”
For the group, the action of not only brings personal embarrassment to the minister, but also attacks the independence of the judiciary and the democratic rule of law.
“Minister Alexandre de Moraes has played a central role in preserving republican institutions and defending the constitutional order in the face of severe undemocratic threats. His decisions can always be questioned. However, only the legal dictates of the national legal system can happen,” the note says.
The group also says that the “use of US legislation under the pretext of protecting human rights is a serious precedent that deserves repudiation not only from Brazilian society, but of the entire international community committed to the legality and self-determination of peoples.”
