Three passenger train cars derailed on Friday near the town of Lahaur in the east of Pakistan. According to the authorities, at least 27 people, including women and children, suffered injuries in the accident, TASR reports according to AP report.
The Islamabad Express train was heading from the capital Islamabad to Lahaur. According to a spokesman of the state railways, rescue teams and health professionals were quickly sent to the scene of the accident. All injured are in a stabilized state. The spokesman did not provide further details. The cause of the accident is the subject of the investigation.
AP recalls that railway accidents are quite common in Pakistan. The reason is the long -term underfinance of railways, outdated tracks and unsatisfactory signaling infrastructure.
