During Expoacre 2025, a recurring problem has been taking patience and money from many application transport users: drivers are normally accepting running through the app, but require more values even before the passenger boards.
Even with the price of the race already calculated and displayed on the screen, drivers are charging fixed values far above than expected, on the grounds that the transfer of the app “does not pay”. Situations such as a race marked for R $ 18 in the app being conditioned to the payment of R $ 30 have become frequent in the capital.

“The driver arrived, did not even ask anything. He just said: ‘It’s $ 30, if not me Cancelo.’ And in the app was $ 18. It became routine here during the Expo,” reported a passenger who preferred not to identify.
Unlike races closed entirely out of practical apps also common now what happens is even more worrying: the driver accepts the race in the app, but imposes an extra charge on the outside even before the trip begins. The additional amount is paid directly to it, without registration, receipt or protection of the platform.
The situation leaves passengers without option. With the high demand and few cars available, especially after Expoacre’s shows and events, those who do not accept to pay more often is on foot.
“Either you pay what the driver wants or is on the street, waiting for another car that can do the same,” complained a resident of the Belo Jardim neighborhood.
Uber and 99 platforms say they do not allow us to be charged and guide users to report. But in practice, passengers report that complaints have no effective result and drivers continue to commit the same abuse impunely.
With the increase in complaints, users have asked the competent authorities to take urgent measures, more rigidly overseeing the performance of these drivers during events such as Expoacre. The collection is for more supervision of City Hall, Procon, Detran and Public Security, as well as greater responsibility of the platforms.
“It’s past time for the authorities to enter this story. The consumer is being injured, wrong, and companies are silent. This can not continue like this,” criticized a community leader in the second district region.
What can the passenger do?
• Refuse any charge outside the application value.
• Report through the app and file a complaint in Procon if possible.
• Avoid cash racing – Pay through the app for greater security.
• Share your trip with someone trusted.
• In cases of coercion, register a police report.
