Women’s positions at universities? Why that makes sense

The Johannes-Kepler University Linz has a notoriously low women’s rate in the professorships compared to other Austrian universities; This applies across all faculties, but especially in technology. In the computer science department, it is currently twelve percent. It is extremely commendable that the university management has identified and addressed this problem. However, why are low women’s shares in technology and why are women’s positions necessary as a measure?
