More than a million people, mostly young people, gathered on a vast open area on the Roman suburbs of Tor Vergat on Sunday, where the Holy Mass in the open -air celebrity Pope Lev XIV. Participation exceeded a million
Already on Saturday evening, a prayer vigil took place in the same place under the leadership of the Pope. The organizers then confirmed the participation of 800,000 people. On Sunday morning the Vatican announced that the number of believers gathered had exceeded a million. Most participants spent the night, sleeping in tents, sleeping bags or washers.
Saturday’s vigil was preceded by a marathon of performances of various Christian music groups. The Italian television station Rai described this event as “Catholic Woodstock”.
AFP recalls that youth jubilee is part of the Jubilee Holy Year, which the Vatican declares every 25 years. In Rome, for most of this week, about half a million young pilgrims from 146 countries were staying.
