The British multi -genre singer and songwriter Dua Lipa, who was born in London by a parents from Kosovo, became a citizen Kosova. The certificate was taken from the hands of Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani, DPA reported on Sunday night. DPA added that Osmani posted on her account on the Instagram platform joint photo with the singer with a description: “Welcome at home, duo.”
At present, a 29-year-old singer was born in London by Albanian parents who moved to Britain from Kosovo. The family returned to Kosovo, which in the meantime gained independence, when Lipa was 11 years old. As a 15-year-old, she moved back to London, where she started building her musical career.
The beginnings of a career
Lipa, who began singing as a five -year -old, was musically influenced by her father, former singer and guitarist of the rock band. When she was 14, she started publishing her songs on the YouTube web platform. Her first studio album was released in 2017.
Together with her father, she founded the Sunny Hill Foundation Foundation in 2016, which organizes concerts in Kosovo every year to help people in financial difficulties.
Presidential recognition
President Osmani said Lipa as one of the most important personalities in the culture and history of Kosovo and emphasized that she became an inspiration for the Kosovans and millions of people around the world. The President also appreciated the singer’s contribution to art and the international image of Kosovo.
Dua Lipa has also had Albanian citizenship since November 2022 – it was awarded by President Bajram Begaj.
During her career, Lipa has won several awards, including three Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, two MTV Europe Music Awards, one MTV Video Music Award and American Music Award. In 2020, the billboard awarded Lipa with the Powerhouse Award, which is awarded for the dominating in the relevant year through streaming, sales and radio. In 2021, the duo was included in the list of Time’s’s next 100 most influential people in the world.
