On Sunday, the maritime forces of Russia and China began joint military exercises entitled “Naval Cooperation – 2025”. They will take place especially in the Japanese Sea and to strengthen the mutual cooperation of these countries. TASR informs this based on the AFP report.
Exercises started in the Russian Far Eastern port Vladivostok and last three days. The statement of the Chinese Department of Defense shows that Both parties will perform “Submarine rescue operations, joint anti -component operations, air defense and missile defense operations, as well as marine combat operations.”
Four Chinese vessels, including two rocket destroyers, will participate in the exercises. After their completion, Chinese and Russian ships will be patrolling together in the “respective waters of the Pacific Ocean”.
Moscow and Beijing have been organizing these naval exercises every year since 2012. Last year they took place along the South China coast. The Chinese Ministry of Defense said this year’s Exercises aim to “further deepen a complex strategic partnership” of both countries.
AFP recalls that In addition to the economic and political ties of Moscow and Beijing, they have also strengthened military cooperation in recent years. Although China presents itself in conflict in Ukraine as an uninterested party, relations with Russia since the beginning of the nationwide invasion in February 2022 deepened and Western states believe that Moscow is providing support.
