With temperatures above 40 degrees and the country on alert, Sabrosa was one of the most critical points. In São Martinho de Anta, 19 elderly people had to be removed from a home and three firefighters were injured.
With the country on alert and temperatures to exceed 40 degrees, the risk of fire is extreme. The most complex situation is currently registered in the Vila Real district, where a difficult night to combat the flames left deep marks in the municipality of Sabrosa.

The strength of the flames and the proximity to housing surprised and worried the population. This Saturday night, many residents failed to sleep, fearing for the advance of fire, which consumed miles of pine forest and bush, threatening various villages of the county.
In addition to the elderly taken from the home, a couple was also evacuated, by precaution, from their home located in a more isolated area. They spent the night in a pavilion prepared to welcome dislocations, but could return at dawn.
In the afternoon, the population complained about the lack of means on the ground – criticism that intensified at night, with the absence of air support. Many of the operational ones were from outside the county and did not know the area well, making it difficult to combat the flames.
The fire progressed toward Sabrosa, reaching the villages of tapir and throat, which in the late afternoon and early evening were a cause for greater concern. Later, the fire also advanced to São Martinho de Anta and Arcã.
