The president -elect of, Edinho Silva, said in his inauguration speech on Sunday (3) that the party needs to prepare to stay in the dispute when no longer in the claim.
“It is our responsibility to build the PT when President Lula is no longer at the polls vying for our project,” he said.
“President Lula leaves us a legacy and he will be fundamental to our party for the rest of our existence, but we know that all the problems faced by the PT, President Lula went to society, to them and reappointed the party to his right place. These scenes, after 2026, even by right to rest and to live his personal life, we will no longer have,” said Edinho.
For him, it is necessary for the party to renew itself. But Edinho stated that Lula’s successor will not be a specific name, but the party as a whole.
“Your replacement will not be a name, your replacement will be the Workers Party. Because if the party is organized, the name will be built, the lead will be built,” he said. “We will have to build a party that can face great clashes.”
Still in his lines, he spoke of the need to get closer to youth, whom the acronym is away, he said.
Edinho also cited the historical moment of the election of the board this year, with mentions of foreign interference and attack on institutions.
Former PT president and Minister of Institutional Relations, Gleisi Hoffmann, was present at the event, where she was strongly applauded, with shouts of “Gleisi was for us an excellent president”.
Other government ministers affiliated with the acronym also attended, among them, Paulo Teixeira (agrarian development), Luciana Santos (science and technology), Anielle Franco (racial equality), Luiz Marinho (work) and Márcio Macêdo (General Secretariat).
Gleisi spoke against US interference in Brazil, which said he was caused by the former president’s family ().
Still in her speech, the head of institutional relations defended the so -called BBB taxation (banks, bets and billionaires), spoke against the war in the Gaza track, screams against the amnesty and nominally thanked the minister, for the work in the process involved in January 8.
“We have a bigger struggle too, along with fighting injustices in Brazil, we have to fight foreign intervention. I think no one has ever thought that we are living such a situation in Brazil, this kind of interference in our sovereignty and caused by a former president and his family who wants amnesty, who articulates against the Brazilian flag, who speak of the values of Brazil and deliver our country to foreigners.”

The day before, the party approved the thesis – a text that will guide the work of the acronym in the coming years – presented by the current CNB (building a new Brazil), Lula chain that gained most of the votes in the election. The currents are the plates that vie for power within the party.
The thesis was approved with the inclusion of a defense of the veto to the bill that changes the rules of environmental licensing. “It seems that the reduction of the weekly working day to 40 hours and the creation of a profit and dividend tax, which already prevail in the world’s main democracies, even if they are criticized by the privileged minorities, will have the same support from most people,” he says.
The text also states that the Lula government has sought to improve its institutional communication, but points out that the clash for public debate is broader. It would also be necessary to convince the population of the importance of Lula’s actions, not only to disclose what was delivered by their management.
The CNB thesis also charges government and allies to adopt “more proactive and more direct” communication with society, which would include exploiting “Lula’s charisma and word” and its travels across the country. “It also supposes to better take advantage of the prestige and ability of social dialogue of the main ministers and leaders of the government,” the text says.
