The European Commission (EC) positively assessed the proposal of the content of the Intergovernmental Agreement between the Slovak Republic and the US for cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. In the video on the social network, the Prime Minister of the Slovak Republic Robert Fico (Smer-SD) informed about it.

He pointed out that a similar type of intergovernmental agreement with a state that is not a member of the European Union must undergo an assessment of the Union authorities. “The United States has already signed the proposal of the agreement, we will also do it,” announced Fico. “This agreement will be the basis for the signature of another intergovernmental agreement concerning the construction of a new block of nuclear power plant in Jaslovské Bohunice in the production of the American company Westinghouse,” He advised the Prime Minister. He assured that the new nuclear block would be in 100 % ownership of the state.

He also announced in the video that he would visit the act in his foreign trips. “It will be on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II, I would like to take advantage of this trip to confirm joint economic projects,” Fico said. He also announced that At the government meeting, August 20, the cabinet should approve the first proposals concerning the next year’s budget.
