Krasheninnikov volcano to expel smoke and ashes during an eruption in the territory of Kamchatka, Russia, on August 3, 2025
The Krasheninnikov volcano, in the far east of Russia, entered the eruption this Sunday. You are not sure if I was “sleeping” 475 or 600 years ago.
After an earthquake of magnitude 8.8 had hit the Kamchatka region last week -and several centuries of inactivity -, KraSheninnikov Despertou.
The rash, which took place during the early hours of Sunday, threw a cloud of ashes that reached a six -kilometer altitude, reported employees of the Kronotsky reserve, where the volcano is located.
Volcanic activity was accompanied by another earthquake of magnitude 7.0 and led to the emission of a tsunami alert to three areas of the peninsula, however raised by the Russian Civil Protection authorities.
The scientists first recorded the eruption of the karaninkov volcano in Kamchatka, as it had been Kramchatka’s Volcanology and Section (IVs) from the Far East Academy of the Russian Academy Section.
475 or 600 years?
“This is the first historically confirmed eruption of Krasheninnikov in 600 years”Said Olga Girina, responsible for the Kamchatka Volcanic Response Team, in statements to Russian state agency Ria Novasti.
However, the Smithsonian Institute’s global volcanism program in the United States records the last eruption in 1550, 475 years agowithout clarification for the discrepancy of 125 years.
Authorities have indicated that the ash cloud is moving to the Pacific Ocean without affecting inhabited zones.
However, they warn that despite the reduction of intensity, there may continue to be a “moderate explosive activity.”
