Co-founder and legal director of, lawyer Humberto Ribeiro was appointed to the Council for Sustainable Social Economic Development (CDDES), known as the Conseling, whose purpose is to advise the Presidency of the Republic.
In activity in Brazil since May 2020, the entity has commented its acting strategies to defend the disqualification and cancellation of profile and vehicle ads that promote misinformation and hate discourse on digital platforms.
The inauguration ceremony will be on Tuesday (5) at the Palace of, in Brasilia, with the presence of ministers and the
“Digital platforms are no longer simple communication tools to become true power appliances,” says Humberto, who specializes in project management from USP and Master in Law and Technology from UFMG.
“We need to break with the logic that transforms users and data into goods into commodity and building policies that put people at the center of the digital environment.”
In his career, Humberto has focused on topics such as regulation of digital platforms, algorithmic transparency and responsibility for digital advertising.
