The prisoners should not have special privileges, Hamas said.
Palestinian militant organization Hamas said on Sunday that the International Committee of the Red Cross (MVCK) will allow to provide assistance to Israeli hostages detained in the Gaza Strip, but only on condition that humanitarian corridors will be opened there. TASR informs about this, referring to AFP.
“We are ready to respond positively to any Red Cross request for the delivery of food and medicines to enemy prisoners. However, we are conditional on our approval by opening humanitarian corridors … to transport food and medicines … to all areas of the Gaza band,” says the AD-Dín al-Kassam, Hamas Military Wing.
Corridor condition
The statement also states that Israeli hostages will not have any “special privileges” compared to other Gaza inhabitants.
“Hamas does not leave prisoners to deliberately starve, they get the same food as our fighters and civilians. They will not have any special privileges,” wrote the military wing of Hamas.
Netanyahua requirements
His statement was published shortly after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu asked MVCK to help secure food and medical assistance to Israeli hostages who are still detained by Palestinian militant groups in the Gaza Strip. He responded to videos capturing two Israeli hostages in poor health, which was published in recent days Hamas and another militant group of Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
MVČK said he was willing to help hostages, but its staff must be allowed to access them, which did not happen in the Gaza Strip in the Gaza Strip within 22 months.
