The City Council has tried to fit several urban projects in the summer period, “when traffic is reduced by 25%, which means three million lessons,” Carabante reported this Thursday, but in the A-5 and the Castilian the cuts will last throughout 2026.
No central lanes in the Paseo de la Castellana

SOTERRATION IN THE A-5
Within the framework of the Soterramiento of the A-5, on Monday the underground step will be cut that connects the Paseo de Extremadura with the roundabout of Dante Street, which leads to the amusement park. “We are a neighborhood divided by the road, we are isolated between A-5 and the Metro line, so with the closing of these steps we will be incommunicado,” said Arturo Sáez (Madrid, 42 years old), spokesman for the Batán Neighbors Association, who predicts that “what will happen is that people will avoid going from one part to another”: “There are already some businesses in the area.”
Residents claim “that the subway and bus lines are reinforced”, to relieve “great difficulties with public transport due to the closure of line 6” that has left “the 10 collapsed line”, in the words of Sáez.
Carabante has detailed that “the steps that will be cut will be open on the surface through traffic lights” that will regulate the passage of vehicles and pedestrians. For the latter, the delegate recalled, “a bus is launched that connects both sides of the road”, but Andrés Piñeiro, spokesman for the neighborhood association of camp, emphasizes that “the free service route leaves an unbreeded section”, while for Sáez the announcement of only that measure “perhaps insufficient.”
Latin Soterrament works have caused neighborhood demonstrations after the City Council decided to advance 700 meters the exit of the tunnel, after modifying the initial project that culminated in the avenue of the towns, not in the street of Illescas.
