The Federal Highway Police (PRF) released on Monday (4) the balance of actions carried out in the first ten days of definitive activity in the Juruá Valley. The Cruzeiro do Sul Operational Unit was implemented on July 23 and operates in an integrated manner with the regions of Rio Branco and Xapuri.

According to inspector Getúlio Azevedo, head of the PRF police station in Acre, the initial activities focus on traffic enforcement and driver guidance, but have already resulted in significant seizures.
According to the balance, during this period were seized:
• 2 firearms and 13 ammunition;
• 8 smuggling items;
• 2,511 foreign items, illegally introduced into the country;
• 301 kg of ground beef and 47 kg of cheese, both transported without proper conditions for human consumption;
• 2 arrest warrants served;
• 1 vehicle collected.
Part of the seized products, according to the inspector, originates in Bolivia and illegally enters Brazil through carriers. “We are still seeking to adapt our unit to offer 24 -hour service, uninterruptedly, to the population,” said Azevedo.
The definitive presence of the PRF in Juruá was made possible with the provisional assignment of a building by the Court of Acre. A project has already been prepared for the construction of the unit’s own headquarters, which will be located at km 752 of BR-364, near the exit of Variant, in Cruzeiro do Sul.
The PRF also informed that, in this early stage, the main focus is educational. The immediate assessment is being applied only in cases of serious infractions or when there is a need to collect the vehicle.
