Santos returns to send a match at Morumbis this Monday (04/08), at 20h (Brasilia), against Youth, for the 19th round of Brasileirão 2025. Although Casa do Peixe is Vila Belmiro, the club recently closed an agreement with São Paulo that allows us to use the tricolor stadium in up to three matches during 2025.
On the other hand, São Paulo will also be able to work in Vila Belmiro on up to three dates, if Morumbis is unavailable because of shows and other events-especially due to the contract with the company Live Nation, which provides for large volume of shows at São Paulo stadium by 2031. The agreement establishes pre-fixed rental values, avoiding new negotiations for each use.
For Santos, acting in the state capital is strategic: the club seeks greater audience presence and, consequently, increased collection in command games. In addition, the Morumbis carries strong symbolism for the Praian alvinegro. It was there that the team won seven titles throughout history – six Paulista Championships and a Brazilian Championship.
On the other hand, Morumbis also brings bitter memories to the Santos fan, such as the defeat in the 2003 Libertadores final against Boca Juniors. Even so, the Santos board believes that the stadium atmosphere can be positive for the team, which currently occupies the 17th place in Brasileirão, within the relegation zone, and needs to react.
Santos will still send another game at Morumbis soon: the match against Vasco, scheduled for August 17, will also have the stage the São Paulo stadium.
São Paulo, in turn, has not yet needed to use Vila Belmiro, but considers the partnership important to have an alternative in case of conflict of dates with shows or events at Morumbis. In addition, Tricolor ruled out other stadiums with synthetic lawn, such as the Barueri Arena or Pacaembu, prioritizing the village because of the quality of the field and the structure.
