Evidence is an unusual couple of Argentine Mendozy, who, despite the 45-year age difference, did not give up the common future, writes Their story began in 1998 at an art exhibition, where then 16-year-old Adrián met with a 61-year-old teacher and amateur painter Delia.
She linked their love for art, but at first they were just friends and communicated by the leaves that Adrian still retains. Years went through and friendship has grown into a romantic relationship. Their love, however, had to stay secret for a year. As witnesses, Jehovah followed the strict rules of their faith and could not be alone in private. When they decided to disclose the relationship, they encountered resistance, especially from the family.
Despite the obstacles, their relationship was consolidated and 18 March 2005 were married. Today they plan to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the wedding. However, their common journey was not always easy – Delia underwent eight operations in 2009 (hip, knee, eyes, gallbladder) and was recently hospitalized for a heart rhythm disorder. Adrián couldn’t visit her then, but fortunately, Delia recovered.
Love, art and mutual support still connect them. Adrián recites poetry at Delie exhibitions, which in turn creates art works for his books. “I have never been ashamed of our age difference. Honestly, I don’t even perceive it. We go everywhere together,” said Adrián. “I was born in a bad time. I was always attracted to older things – cars, houses … and women,” he added.
