Members of the Lula government signaled to sectors of the economy, in a meeting on Monday (4), that federal management can buy goods that are no longer exported to the United States due to 50% rates Established by US President Donald Trump.
Sources of the productive sector that were also present at the meeting reported CNN that the Minister of Agrarian Development and Family Farming, Paulo Teixeira, commented that surpluses of a series of items – mentioning café, fruits, Fish e mel – would be the subject of government purchases.
The details of politics are not clear, such as criteria or volumes to be purchased. After the meeting, when asked about the possibility of journalists, the vice president and minister of development, industry, commerce and services, Geraldo Alckmin (PSB)He said the government’s contingency plan to help companies may contain government purchases.
The possibility that government purchases are used on the plan gained strength last week. Initially it was treated possible authorization from federal management so that state governments could acquire foods that are no longer exported due to tariffs.

Instead of following the traditional logic, with electronic trading for the lowest price, with a margin preferably for national products and at least 30% quota for family farming products (in the case of PAA, the food acquisition program), purchases would benefit exporters.
