Ukrainian President Volodymyr Greenable on Tuesday informed about a call with his American counterpart Donald Trump. They talked about sanctions against Russia and bilateral defense cooperation between Ukraine and the US, TASR reports according to the Greeny post on the network X.
“Today we have aligned our positions. We exchanged the evaluations of the situation: the Russians intensified the brutality of their attacks. President Trump is fully informed about Russian attacks on Kiev and other cities and villages,” said Grems and Trump for his efforts to make a fair and lasting peace in Ukraine. Russia accused of being expanding the war against Ukraine.
Trump tightens sanctions
At the beginning of last week, Trump reiterated that he was dissatisfied with the action of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who, according to him, wants the war in Ukraine to continue. He therefore shortened the 50-day period he gave him to end the war. The new date will expire on Thursday, August 8, and, in the case of its non-compliance with the United States, according to Trump, they impose 100 % duties on Moscow’s business partners.
“Of course, we talked about sanctions against Russia. His economy continues to decline, and therefore Moscow is so attentive to this perspective and determination of President Trump. This can change a lot,” said the Ukrainian head of state.
Delivery of Weapons for Ukraine
In his words, Greeny and Trump also discussed the Purl initiative (List of Priority Requirements of Ukraine) in order to deliver Kiev weapons made in the US. The commitment to pay weapons for Ukraine has been announced so far by four countries – the Netherlands, Sweden, Norway and Denmark. According to Zelensky, they promised more than one billion dollars.
Cooperation between Ukraine and the US in the field of defense was also the topic of telephone interview. According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian side has already prepared a “draft agreement on unmanned aircraft”, is ready to negotiate and close it in detail. “It could be one of the strongest agreements,” the Ukrainian president added.
