The court of Pará departed from office on Tuesday (5) the mayor of Ananindeua, Dr. Daniel (PSB), based on investigations conducted by Gaeco, the unit of the prosecutor dedicated to combating organized crime.
He says the decision was interference from Governor Helder Barbalho (MDB), his former ally and current political disaffection.
“It is an arbitrary decision, made monocratically by a judge linked to the Helder government. It is another example of the dictatorship of Barbalho, who has full control over the prosecutor and the judiciary,” says the mayor, who will appeal the decision.
Daniel says he has no information about the accusation that led to the injunction of Judge Pedro Soterio. “This is another aspect. I don’t know what I’m accused of. They didn’t give me a right to defense,” he says.
According to the mayor, who will be provisionally replaced by the deputy, the judge has close relations with the state government. “It is so immoral that his daughter is the main advisor of the Attorney General of the State.”
In addition to legal strategy, Daniel says he will seek political support from his party, the PSB. He was in Brasilia when he received the news, and intends to have conversations with leaders such as Carlos Siqueira and the vice president, Geraldo Alckmin.
“I am already walking the state as a pre-candidate for governor, Lidero most of the polls. This is a direct interference from the Helder government about justice to influence next year’s election,” he said.
