O Singer Mc Marcinho will be honored with a statue in Rio de Janeiro. The forecast for the release of the monument is August this year, and is based on a municipal law that provided for the tribute to the artist.
From the initiative of Councilman Felipe Boró (PSD), Mayor Eduardo Paes (PSD) and Alerj (Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro), the owner of unforgettable hits should be honored with the monument in the neighborhood where he grew up, in Bangu, in the West Zone of Rio.
The measure was officialized by Lei nº 8.294sanctioned by the mayor on April 18, 2024. The text authorizes the Executive Power to choose a place in the city to receive the name of MC Marcinho (singer and composer/1977-2023).
Mc Marcinho will be modeled by artist Clécio Regis, who was mission to honor the icon of Rio music almost two years after the artist’s death.

Recognition of the artist’s career also came from ALERJ (Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro). On August 29, 2023, days after his death, Márcio André Nepomuceno Garcia was granted Mc Marcinhoo Diploma Abdias Nascimento for its “outstanding performance in Brazilian popular culture and music”.
Born in Duque de Caxias, Mc Marcinho became known as the “prince of funk” and became a reference of the funk melody in the 1990s and 2000. Author of successes as “RAP DO SOLITARY” e “Glamorous”their songs marked a generation. The artist died on August 26, 2023, leaving an important legacy for national music.
