The Israeli Prime Minister, has called for today a security cabinet meeting with the intention of, as reported by a senior official in a meeting with the Israeli press and confirmed to Efe sources from the government leader’s office.
“The Prime Minister will convene tomorrow (for today) a debate on security on the continuation of the fighting and their expansion to areas where there are hostages. The security forces oppose the maneuvers in places where they are retained, for fear of causing them damage,” says a statement to which Efe had access.
During the meeting with the Israeli press, the Netanyahu spokesman said: “Luck is cast: we will completely occupy the Gaza Strip,” according to the newspaper .
“There will be operations even in the areas where the hostages are found. If the Chief of the General Staff does not agree, he should resign,” he said referring to the Army leader, Eyal Zamir, in view of the opposition of the security estate to this measure.
Sources close to the Government told EFE that the meeting has not yet been completed, scheduled for this Tuesday, of the security cabinet, which decides the course of the offensive in Gaza and is formed by members of the government of the relevant portfolios for it and other senior security charges.
The Army, against
Already on Monday afternoon, at the gates of the announcement, the local press announced that the chief the General Staff, Eyal Zamir, had canceled the visit to the United States.
After revealing the intentions of the president, the Army responded with a statement in which it announced the cancellation of the extension of the service so far in force of regular terrestrial troops from 2025.
“It has been decided to give the soldiers some space to breathe,” says the statement, “in the light of intense fighting in different sectors of the Armed Forces in the last two years.”

According to the newspaper La Opposition of the Armed Forces lies in the concern that the Palestinian militias in Gaza execute the hostages in the face of the advance of the troops (as happened at the end of August 2024 with six captives, found on September 1).
They also consider that destroying the framework could take years.
